The Starbar® story
The Starbar® team of chemists, entomologists and manufacturing professionals provide solutions that deliver insect management results to our rural and agribusiness customers. Our products are formulated using some of the industry's most innovative technology - and, just as important, an uncommon understanding of the pest control challenges facing rural life.
How it all began
In 1949, brothers Thurmond and Byron Williamson began manufacturing agricultural products in Dallas, TX. By 1958, the Williamsons' business was incorporated as Nurs-Ree Special, Inc.
In 1961, the name Nurs-Ree Special was changed to Agricultural Specialties Manufacturing Company. As the name suggests, farmers now had a line of products created for specific agricultural pest control challenges.
Starbar® was one of the first divisions of the Agricultural Specialties Manufacturing Company. Originally, our focus was insect pest control for large animal operations and ranches. Over the years, our dedication to improving the overall quality of rural life grew, and now includes more operations, plus a home and garden segment.
Starbar® has earned a reputation for products that offer quick knockdown and long-term control. We were the first to develop a fly bait and a convenient nuisance fly control strip. Starbar® was also a leader in the development of a feed-through formulation for horn fly control.
In 1997, Starbar® became part of Wellmark International. In the years to come, count on us to remain true to our commitment to making operations more profitable - and making rural life more enjoyable.
The Premise Pest Management Division which markets the Starbar® family of products, is part of Central Life Sciences, a strategic business unit of Central Garden & Pet (NASDAQ: CENT).
